Hostway Corporation Upgrades Security to Comply with Regulatory Standards
 Hostway Corporation has made the latest upgrade for its hosted Microsoft Exchange service available to customers. The new compliance updates include optional add-ons to Hostway Hosted Exchange including archiving and retention, encryption and Active Directory sync. The purpose of the new features is to provide improved security features and comply with regulatory requirements. Following a recent $1.8 million fine received by Alaska Department of Health and Social Services for a violation of HIPAA regulations, Hostway is looking to provide sufficient protection to customers through its latest upgrades. Aaron Hollobaugh, vice president of marketing and communications for Hostway, described the functions of the implemented changes. "Our Hosted Exchange upgrade provides clients with a new layer of security and functionality that is simple to implement, cost-effective when compared to the potential risks, and capable of boosting operational efficiency by allowing user accounts to be updated and terminated very quickly," he said. With emails often containing content legal, financial or regulatory breaches, Hostway have addressed these issues through a number of add-ons. These include compliant email archiving and retention, advanced email encryption and Active Directory synchronization. Hollobaugh continued to highlight the importance of security, saying, "Companies facing stolen data are looking at considerable costs in terms of fines and customer attrition. Firms that aren’t actively working to meet compliance regulations are setting themselves up for serious problems."
